Pre-Handicamp & work

Wow. Long time no update… Even for the people who can view locked posts.. I suppose it’s a good thing, because it means I’m wasting less time online, and although that would imply I’m doing more schoolwork, it doesn’t always mean that. Don’t get me wrong; I have been doing more, but still not enough by my standards, and probably my parent’s also.

Anyway, I don’t have time to type a lot. I leave for ‘Handicamp’ tomorrow, which, for those of you who have forgotten, is a week long stay at a boarding school for disabled children, where I act as a temporary carer and we go for trips and such. Basically a week they’ll never forget and probably won’t experience in the same way again. I have yet to pack (o.O;) and I didn’t manage to complete my D&T project before I leave tomorrow, but I still have time when I return.

I about 4/5 of the way through ‘Status Anxiety’ which Jenni kindly lent me, and which I won’t be able to complete until next week, because I’ve been told this next week will be very draining. I have to be on call for my buddy 24/7 I think, although there will be nurses and such. Before I go, I’d like to plug a link somebody sent me, which I found intriguing. It’s about this young lady who has produced a miniature web log of her trip to Chernobyl in Ukraine where the small-scale apocalyptic nuclear disaster occurred. It’s quite fascinating reading about this Ghost Town, even though it was actually an awful event.

*Edit* I almost forgot the praise-inducing line: It’s my birthday tomorrow! 2.16am *nods. I’m turning 18, not that I’m particularly happy. I like being young. Meh, no reason to be cynical I guess. ^_^

That site is quite moving, especially the last couple of pages with pictures of that nursery.
