Return and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

I came back safely last Thursday but didn’t get home until early evening. I haven’t been up to much really; doctor’s appointments, eye examinations (I’m considering contacts for certain occasions such as sports) and catching up with my family. We’ve been out to a couple of meals and went to see CatCF tonight. Sorry for not being in touch with many people just yet, but my parents will be going away on holiday on the 13th August, so I plan to organise some sort of sleepover then.

CatCF was very good. I was a little worried it wouldn’t work, but Tim Burton brought out the best in the film with his eccentric artistry and humour (although I think the old version still has its charm). Johhny Depp portrayed Willie Wonka as an odd, introverted artist very well and Danny Elfman’s score and Oompa Loompa songs (he sang them!) completed the zany atmosphere of the factory. What’s more, I saw a trailer for Burton’s ‘Corpse Bride’ before the film. It’s very Nightmare Before Christmas-esque, not least because it’s done in stop-motion animation and Elfman is scoring in it as he did NMBC ^_^! I can’t wait! Roll on September 23rd, or whenever it gets its UK release ^^.

Check out the trailer *here*

Hey Heather. Sorry I’ve been lax in getting back to you lately. I can probably make Sunday if everyone else is going to be there. If people are finding it difficult, then I’ll wait until my parents have flown out to Antigua next Friday and I’ll organise something around my house. What’s the situation on Sunday so far..?

Chris! We’ve got to talk and arrange a time to meet up. Unfortunately, I’ve in the process of re-building my PC at the moment, so I’m not really using MSN until I’ve completed it. When are you down in Kent next? Oh, and I did recieve your last letter. Much appreciated – I hope you aren’t too disappointed I didn’t reply though… I’m looking forward to catching up! ^_^

I saw your mummy in Halfords today! I didn’t recognise her at first! Yeah, corpse bride looks pretty good, I read about it in Empire.

Are you free Sunday? I was gonna have a gathering round my house with whoever is around that day. Dunno what we will do though lol, it will just be nice to see everyone, especially a certain person who has been away for 11 months! I’ll post on our community about it and wait for responses…
