Tadpole safari

Rough tadpole count: 19
Development: I only counted about 19 tadpoles today, so either I miscounted originally or there are some hiding in the weed XD. I’m not too worried as long as the number remains pretty high. No real change in growth, but they are excreting everywhere, to be ever so polite – so I’m taking that as a good sign for healthy tadpoles :P.
Other observations: I saw a few of them feeding today, gnawing their way along the thin arms of the pondweed like corn on the cob ^_^;. Every now and then one of them decides to try and break the record for the tadpole 100m sprint – or more precisely – the 45cm swim. I don’t think that they have learnt the size of the tank properly yet, because I’m sure I’m hearing hollow ‘clunks’ when they collide with the sides o.O;.

Jacques the resident shrimp-like creature was seen again today briefly. I don’t actually get to see him swim, he seems to dematerialise right in front of me and reappear in another place shortly after. I always wondered what those little antenna things were for… teleportation, obviously. :P

Spotted the tiny worm again; so the tadpoles aren’t fed up of weed yet. I’m sure he’ll be nice and fat for when they develop a taste for meat XD heheh.

Oh. And I wanted to add, one of the tadpoles was resting on the glass floor against the side, and when I peered closer, I could make out a small translucent red blob in the mass that makes up its head. It was pretty cool to watch it pulsing quickly, and I’m sure the owner flicked his/her eye out to look at me while I was watching. ^_^

the little worm thing sounds like a mosquito larva…
When we use dto have a pond it was surrounded with flagstones and all the froglets would crawl out and the sun would turn the flagstones into frying pans, it was such fun peeling flashfried froglets of the floor…

Bwaha! I’ve seen about 3 Jacques now… Either he’s gotten *really* fast and can now show himself in more than one place at the same time or, well, the sane reason that I caught a few and not just one XD. They seem to hang around on the plant seems ‘cleaning’ them most of time. :P

You should try and watch Jacques swim! I bet his little legs will do the same speedy thing! And I’m sure if you listen carefully, he’ll say “Bonjour”.
