Yes, and that means ‘Amber’ in Japanese which, aside from being my favourite stone, was one of the main characters in the ‘Wish’ manga I’ve just read (rather cheekily, according to Simon, because it is the present Lianne requested for her birthday; though don’t remind her, as she may have forgotten now…) ^_^. It’s a well executed story with very pretty artwork – nothing less than you’d expect from CLAMP (the manga company that produced it) – dealing with some interesting fantasy concepts between Heaven and Hell and the relationships between Angels, Devils and Humans. It has a touching storyline, interspersed with mild bouts of humour and amusing characters. And look at me, I sound like a blasted book critic here… It does have a heavy shoujo feel to it at times though (shoujo manga is manga generally aimed at girls) and so may not appeal to some audiences. Meh, I’m weird and like reading the more ‘feminine’ stuff sometimes though, so I enjoyed it nonetheless ^_^.
Other than that, I’ve been doing some extra maths work in school lately, will finish taping ‘Excel Saga’ tomorrow and I think I’ll record ‘Nadesico’ since it begins tomorrow as well. I’m off to Reading University on Saturday, even though I probably won’t be going there now they decided to drop Japanese, and following that, Leeds University on Wednesday, which I’m hoping Dave and I will get into. Also, I confirmed my place on the ‘Handicamp’ volunteer programme. The Morningstar sailing residential doesn’t look like it will happen now though, as they haven’t the places on the 5th-9th April, and the other voyage is right at the end of my exams and before Japan. I need to replenish my energy levels for Japan, as it’s sure to be a busy 10 days ^_^.
Oh! And I finally borrowed Franz Ferdinand from Rob, who do rock, as I thought. Will be keeping an eye on this band methinks…
Alrighty. I’m going to continue my trend of getting to bed earlier every night now. With any luck, I’ll be getting the recommended 8 hours sleep/night by the end of the week :P
*edit*Oh, Jenni, is it possible I could borrow your ‘Best Of’ REM album… pleaseee? ^_^; *niko niko*
